Reclaimed plastic garden herb table

Reclaimed plastic graden table
This was a brief week long project I set myself last year at university.
The idea first came about when I saw how many of the classic white plastic chairs and tables where being thrown away year after year, I felt that this amount of material would be a huge waste and i wondered what I could do with it.
So i decided to combine it with a growing trend of  "grow your own" as allot of friends parents, including my own and their friends, seem to of taken up having fresh herbs etc in the garden instead of, or alongside the traditional flower bed.
I decided to keep the design very simple as all of the colour and movement within the design would come from the plants themselves, making every individual and completely customisable, the table is just a canvas as such in which the owner can create what they want.
The plants sit in trays inside the table which are removable with each side closing off, just allowing light to flow through the holes forcing the plants to grow through.
These are some pictures of the 1:10 scale model I made from strip heating a single piece of white acrylic, and bending it to shape by hand, to see what my design would look like in the flesh and to see if it would work. To see if it would actually function I decided to grow some cress out of it briefly in my room at uni.
